Ibn Rushd (Averroes) [1126-1198] was an Arabian Philosopher, also known as Ibn Rushd, born in Cordoba Spain. Averroes was a devoted student of the writings of the Greek philosopher Aristotle. He produced a series of summaries & commentaries on most of Aristotle's Works (1169-95) and on "Plato's Republic", which exerted considerable influence in Europe for centuries.
